Take Action on Asian Carp
With the Asian carp getting ever closer to “colonizing” Lake Michigan, the Army Corp of Engineers just announced that its study to determine the best remedies to keeping the Carp out of the Lake is being extended to 2015. Please write the Army Corp of Engineers and tell them we are already in an emergency situation with the Carp and that it is necessary to take immediate action on stopping the Carp from invading the Great Lakes. Recommending solutions in 2015 is like telling the passengers of the Titanic that the Captain and crew have flown to shore to study the best ways to keep the ship from sinking.

Water Volunteers Needed
There is always a lot going on in Southeastern Wisconsin dealing with water. For the last seven years the GWG has been very active in many of the water issues boiling up in our area. We worked hard on the Great Lakes Compact Agreement signed two years ago, as well as on the more recent threat of water privatization of Milwaukee's water. The Great Waters Group sat on the Citizens Advisory Committee to MMSD as they developed their 2020 strategic plan for sewerage service to the 28 communities in the regional watersheds.
Suzanne Schalig from our Group is a member of the State Sierra Club Water Team, and I represent the Group as a member of the Water Table, a consortium of 25 state and local water organizations.
With these and other water issues on the "front burner," we are looking for Sierra Club members who are interested in and love our Wisconsin waters, and would like to work on these issues. I would be happy to work with you and bring you up to speed as the issues swirl around us.
