Many of us know the sad tale of where much of our plastic goes: to the oceans and in the bellies of animals (birds and sea life.) We have seen photos of birds or beached whales with plastic in their guts. The Pacific gyre (in the Pacific Ocean, where a lot of plastic collects) is twice the size of the state of Texas.
Here in Milwaukee, a new nonprofit group has started with the aim of cutting our use of single-use plastic. Plastic Free Milwaukee is a volunteer group about a year old with many ideas we all can use -- and some of us may want to join this cause at their monthly meetings or to carry out projects.
Come and hear how you can join in this nature-loving and earth-saving effort!
**** The Great Waters Group monthly meetings are free and open to the public.
The meetings are held on the third Monday of the month in most months.
NOTE: change in venue for monthly programs; please note specific location.
